Smugglers in net, three kids saved
Patna: Three members of a Nepal-based gang involved in human trafficking were arrested at the city’s Mithapur bus stand today. Three children were rescued from their clutches.
enior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said: “The arrested trio, hailing from Nepal’s Rautahat district, used to smuggle children from the Himalayan country to different Indian metropolitan cities through Bihar, where they were made to work in small-scale industries and eateries.”
Lizard found in meal
Patna: A total of 106 students of Sugiya Katsari middle school fell ill after eating a midday meal containing a dead lizard. The students complained of stomach pain soon after, district magistrate KDN Singh said. Sheohar superintendent of police Himanshu Trivedi confirmed about the lizard in the food. The head of the lizard was sent for forensic examination.
Killer father
Patna: A middle-aged man stabbed his daughter to death in Patna City’s Kumhrar area on Tuesday morning. Police said Umesh Sao, a habitual drunkard, had an argument with eldest daughter, Soni Kumari, and then stabbed her in a fit of rage. He has been arrested.
Heist case
Siwan: Police have failed to make a breakthrough in the Rs 55 lakh theft case. The money was stolen from Guthni branch of Canara Bank and an FIR was lodged in this connection on Monday. Guthni police station in-charge Ajay Mishra said the robbery gang is suspected to be from Uttar Pradesh.
Erosion deaths
Chhapra: Two minors were crushed to death after they trapped in soil erosion on Tuesday on the premises of a closed factory at Marhaurah in Saran district. The deceased have been identified as Vikas Dom (11) and Rinki (10).

Patna: Food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak on Tuesday distributed benefits of chief minister bicycle scheme among school students in Punpun block of Patna district. A total of 406 boys and 232 girls got benefited by the scheme
Accident death
Purnea: A 30-year-old man on Tuesday died in a road accident at Majhali Chowk. The deceased, identified as Vivek Kumar, is the resident of Madhubani colony of Purnea town.

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday laid the foundation of Lavaich-Rampur barrage work on river Dargha at Dhanarua block of the district. The project is expected at Rs 34.35 crore.

Patna: Former co-operative minister and BJP leader Ramadhar Singh on Tuesday attacked chief minister Nitish Kumar for his failure to expand his cabinet.

Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi accused chief minister Nitish Kumar of going soft on Naxalites to win elections with their support. He said the government was doing nothing even though BJP leaders had been facing threats from the Naxalites.
