Teenager hurts minor, on the run

Patna: A team of Muzaffarpur police on Friday conducted a raid to arrest a teenager who is absconding after throwing boiling hot water on the face of a minor girl. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night and an FIR was lodged on Thursday.

The victim, who has suffered 20 per cent burn injuries, had deleted the boy from the friends’ list of her profile on a social networking site prompting the attack. She has been admitted to a hospital. The police team conducted the raid at the ancestral house of the accused at Patepur in Vaishali district but he was not found.

Navruna probe

Muzaffarpur: Atul Chakravorty and Maitri Chakravorty, parents of 13-year-old Navruna abducted from Muzaffarpur, have deferred their indefinite hunger strike after assurances from the state government. The couple had sat on a fast-unto-death from Thursday in protest against the CBI’s refusal to probe the 2012 abduction of their daughter. Sub-divisional magistrate (east) Sunil Kumar met the parents on Thursday evening and assured them of putting in a fresh request for the CBI to probe the case. Atul on Friday said principal secretary of the home department Amir Subhani has assured them of sending a fresh proposal to the CBI.

Robbery

Patna: Criminals barged into the ancestral house of Rohtas superintendent of police Vikas Barman at Motipur in Muzaffarpur district late on Wednesday night and escaped with Rs 3,000 and other valuables, including two gold chains and finger rings, worth Rs 1.5 lakh. Barman’s uncle Chandra Dev Ram and his wife Kalwa Devi were present at the time of the robbery. Motipur station house officer Abhishek Ranjan on Friday said a complaint has been lodged based on the statement of Kalwa Devi. “The gang involved in the robbery has been identified and raids are on to arrest the members,” said Ranjan. Kalwa Devi complained that the robbers entered the house around midnight, held the couple hostage and robbed them. Muzaffarpur deputy superintendent of police (west) Ajay Kumar on Friday visited the spot.

Patna: The contributions of late Lalit Narayan Mishra, a former railway minister, were recalled at a programme organised to mark his death anniversary in the city on Friday.
