Salary trauma for women shield
Buxar: Employees of Women’s Protection Office for victims of domestic violence in the district have not been getting salaries since April 2012 because of alleged lax attitude of the officials concerned.
The employees, who were recruited on April 24, 2012, have not received their identity cards till date. “We had given a written application to the district magistrate regarding an I-card to be provided to us but no action was taken,” said an employee.
District magistrate Vinod Singh Gunjiyal could not be contacted for comment.
Attack on teacher
Sasaram (PTI): Two motorbike-borne assailants shot at and wounded a schoolteacher, Gopal Tiwari, at Kochdihra village in Rohtas district before looting Rs 4.85 lakh from him on Thursday. Sub-divisional police officer Ashish Anand said the criminals intercepted Tiwari, who was on another motorbike, and shot at him from close range. Tiwari, who was carrying the amount for distributing scholarship and uniform money at his school, was rushed to the sadar hospital for treatment.

Patna: Members of cultural organisation Prerna on Thursday staged a street play at Gandhi Maidan as part of Safdar 2014, a programme organised to spread the message of peace and unity.
BJP jibe at govt
Patna: The BJP on Thursday claimed that the JD(U) government had become similar to the Lalu-Rabri raj. Senior leader Prem Kumar said 13 out of 18 ministers in the Nitish Kumar government were earlier with the RJD and such a situation was bound to happen.
Sand scarcity
Patna: Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday claimed the state would soon face scarcity of sand. He claimed the problem would arise because of non-settlement of areas from where sand excavation is carried out. Modi said the government was not concerned about the problem which the state was likely to face in the days to come.

Shot dead
Motihari: Assailants shot dead Krishna Kant Singh, a resident of Siswa Patna village under the jurisdiction of Kesariya police station, late on Wednesday evening. Sources said the killers had earlier demanded Rs 10 lakh from the victim’s brother. A case has been lodged in the case.
Mob-cop clash
Jehanabad (PTI): Ten people, including two cops, were injured on Thursday in a clash between the policemen and a mob in Jehanabad district, police sources said. Sources said the incident took place when the mob attacked a police team and rained stones on them after they reached the village to separate two warring groups of people. Sub-inspector Suresh Prasad and assistant sub-inspector Rajkishore Rai were injured. Sub-divisional officer Manoranjan Kumar and deputy superintendent of police Vakil Ahmed rushed to the village with reinforcements. The injured have been taken to a hospital.
