PMC direction to stop construction
Patna: The vigilance court of Patna Municipal Corporation on Wednesday issued an order to stop construction of Manav Clinic in the Nala Road area on charges of violation of building byelaws.
Civic body commissioner Kuldip Narayan, in his order, said it was found that architect Pankaj Kumar Singh passed the map in a fraudulent manner and a showcause notice has been issued to him.
Based on the inspection of the under-construction G+4 building, it was found that the road adjoining it was 11 feet wide. Accordingly, the permissible height of the building was only 11 meters. The original map approved for the building, however, mentioned that the road was 20 feet wide and the building 14.95m high.
Life term for murder
Patna: District and sessions judge Arun Kumar on Wednesday sentenced Chandan Singh, a resident of Mokhtyarpur, Amar Nath Choudhary alias Lutan, a resident of Dadpur, and Mukesh Singh, a resident of Simaria, to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of Begusarai additional public prosecutor Ram Naresh Sharma on November 8, 2007.
Minister order
Patna: Food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak, who represents the Phulwarisharif constituency, on Wednesday directed the block officials concerned to ensure the quick disposal of complaints. The minister issued the directive after received applications during a janata durbar at Kurthol panchayat.
School protest
Darbhanga: Students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Pacharhi, around 175km northeast of Patna, went on hunger strike on Wednesday to protest against the poor quality of meal served by the school administration. They wanted to register their grievances with district magistrate Kumar Ravi.

Chhapra: Saran superintendent of police Sudhir Kumar transferred 98 sub-inspectors, including 26 station house officers, in light of the Election Commission’s order for preparations for the upcoming general elections.

Chhapra: The public relation officer of Varanasi division of North Eastern Railway on Wednesday said steps have been taken to fill vacancies for security personnel at Chhapra railway station and make the security control room functional.
Flower damage
Motihari: At least six flower shops at Phool Gaon in Motihari were damaged in a fire on Tuesday night. Businessmen suffered losses of around Rs 1 lakh. Police suspect the shops caught fire because of a short circuit.
Train robbery
Khagaria: At least six persons travelling in a passenger train were injured on Wednesday when they resisted a gang trying to rob them of their belongings between Khagaria and Maheshkhut railway stations on the Barauni-Katihar section of East Central Railway. The injured have been admitted to the government railway hospital in Khagaria. The criminals escaped with cash and valuables worth Rs 60,000.
Teacher death
Nawada: A government schoolteacher from Chandipur village, Navin Kumar, was killed on Wednesday when a speeding vehicle hit his motorcycle from behind near the Bardiha turning in Nawada district.
