Bus mishap kills 3
Katihar: Three persons died on Sunday when a bus in which they were travelling from Purnea to Bhagalpur met with an accident after losing its balance near Mahinathpur area on National Highway-31 under the jurisdiction of Kodha police station.
More than 24 passengers were injured in the accident. The injured persons were taken to the primary health centre of Kodha, about 285km northeast of Patna, for treatment. Police are trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased persons.
Loyalty switch
Patna: Former Union minister Devendra Prasad Yadav on Sunday joined the JD(U) at a function held at Rabindra Bhavan. Yadav also merged his party, Samajwadi Janata Dal (Democratic), with the ruling JD(U). Chief minister Nitish Kumar and other senior leaders of the JD(U) were present on the occasion. Former CBI director Nirmal Kumar Singh also joined the JD(U) on Sunday, along with RJD leader and former minister Bagi Kumar Verma.
Ticket praise
Patna: Lal Babu Prasad, the state Congress spokesperson, on Sunday congratulated the party for giving the ticket for Gopalganj parliamentary seat to Dilip Manjhi. Prasad said Manjhi is a dedicated leader of the party and he had been raising issues related to the people of Gopalganj.
Stamp racket
Siwan: Police busted a press involved in printing fake judicial stamps and revenue tickets for the past several years. Stamps worth Rs 1 crore were seized. Superintendent of police Vivek Kumar said acting on a tip-off the police raided the house of Kamarul Raja at Chakia Mohalla on Friday evening. Raja was arrested and the others managed to flee.

Kishanganj (PTI): Four persons, including three members of a family, were killed and two others were injured when as a four-wheeler collided with a truck near the block office chowk late on Saturday night in the district.
