One dead in mishap

Chhapra: A man died and nine others suffered injuries when an SUV collided with a tempo at Phakuli village early on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shiv Kumar Rai (55).

Kin concern

Patna: Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday listened to the grievances of residents during his visit to Mahmudichak Musahari village. The chief minister went to meet his relatives.

Alive claim

Gopalganj: Jebunnisa Khatun, alleged to have been killed by her husband, turned up at Kateya police station on Sunday and declared that she was alive and her husband did not kill her.

Felicitation

Patna: The LJP would organise a programme on May 30 to felicitate its six MPs elected from Bihar. The party leaders and workers met on Sunday to discuss the preparations being made to make the programme a success.

Gang in net

Patna: Eleven members of a gang involved in committing offences such as robbery and extortion were arrested during a raid at Valmichak on Sunday. One pistol and live cartridges were seized.

Murder arrest

Patna: Manoj Das, a driver, was arrested on Sunday for his alleged involvement in the murder of transporter Alok Kumar on March 17.

Schemes

Patna: CPI-ML(Liberation) on Sunday urged chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi to ensure implementation of schemes meant for poor and mahadalit people.

Protest

Patna: Members of Bharatiya Momin Front staged a protest on Sunday demanding alleged connivance of election related officials and BJP during elections.

Criticism

Patna: Jan Abhiyan, a network of civil society organisations, on Sunday criticised the act of ABVP activists to disrupt an event in which the arrest of Delhi University professor G.N. Saibaba was being discussed.
