Bus overturns, one dead

Jehanabad: One person was killed and 18 others were injured when a bus in which they were travelling overturned on NH-83 at Kohra village of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Paras Mishra, a resident of Sheshamba village of the district.

The injured have been admitted to the Jehanabad sadar hospital.

CM order to power firm

Patna: Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday directed the chairman of Bihar State Power Holding Company Ltd Pratyaya Amrit to look into the complaint of one Jairam Prasad of Jehanabad district in which he had alleged that a local junior engineer of the energy department had tampered with his meter and imposed a fine of Rs 1.40 lakh. Prasad had turned up at the Chief minister’s residence to share his problem. He was part of the group of people that had turned up from different parts of the state to share their problems with the chief minister.

Park renovation

Patna: Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday announced that the park of MIG Colony, Hanuman Nagar, would be renovated. He made this announcement after paying a visit to the colony on the request of residents.

Cremation

Patna: The cremation of astrologer R.K. Narayan would be done on June 17. Narayan breathed his last on June 13. The nonagenarian astrologer was the founder of Patna chapter of Indian Council of Astrological Sciences and member of American Federation of Astrologers.

Health camp

Patna: More than 270 people were examined in the health camp organised by Agrasen Seva Nyas on Sunday. Vaccine of Hepatitis B was also administered to 30 people in this camp.

Father’s Day

Patna: The importance of fathers was underlined in a debate organised by Students’ Oxygen Movement on the occasion of Father’s day on Sunday. School and college students took part in the debate.

Kidnap arrest

Patna: Nagmani Singh, a suspect in Gujarat trader Sohail Hingora’s kidnapping case, was arrested from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand on Sunday. Sohail (25), the son of a realtor Mohammad Hanif Hingora, was kept in the house of Singh at Nayagaon in Saran district. Sohail was released by the abductors after his family reportedly paid Rs 9 crore as ransom. He was taken hostage by gun-totting men from Daman and subsequently confined to a house in Saran district for over a month.

Social issues

Gaya: A three-day yuva samaj sadhna shivir was organised at Samanvay Ashram in Bodhgaya by Delhi-based Gandhi Smriti Evam Darshan Samiti. More than 200 students from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bengal and Delhi took part in the camp in which physical labour, challenges in nation building, social equality and gender equality were discussed.

Modi agenda

Gopalganj: Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh on Sunday said agenda of Modi government for five years is to strengthen the country and this is possible only when farmers and villages are taken care of.
