Villagers migrate to protest murder

gaya: More than 300 Mahadalit villagers migrated from Pura village under Tekari block with cattle and belongings on Thursday to protest the alleged murder of one Arjun Manjhi of Mahadalit Tola by strongmen.

The agitators started marching towards the Gaya district headquarters. District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal and senior superintendent of police Nishant Kumar Tiwary immediately rushed towards Tekari block and pleaded with the agitators to return to their village. In the evening, the villagers were taken to Mahadalit Utpreran Kendra in Tekari. The administration had arranged meal and other facilities for them. Officials were trying to send the villagers back to their native place. Seven persons were made named accused in connection with the murder of which only one has been arrested.

Admission row deadline

Patna: The high court on Thursday directed the state government to complete the admission process into MBBS courses in different medical colleges of the state by September 27.

Extortion probe

Patna: The home department has asked the cyber cell of the state police to conduct a detailed probe into complaints by several bank officials and

prominent traders of Jehanabad that they had received extortion threats through email. One Manish Kumar Singh sent emails to 96 persons of the district asking them to pay Rs 5 lakh each as extortion. The victims approached the officials of the home department and demanded Manish’s arrest.

Flat scheme

Patna: DPM Infrastructure and Housing Private Limited has come up with a special festive scheme under which those booking a flat with the company and making 70 per cent down payment would get one flat free.

Patna: Urban development and housing department minister Samrat Choudhary would launch a fleet of 20 new 32-seat semi-low floor buses procured under JNNURM scheme in Patna on Friday.
