Man bobbitises self after quarrel
Patna: A 30-year-old man bobbitised himself on Friday after a heated argument with his wife at Khujba village in Siwan, around 130km northwest of Patna.
The victim, Shamsheer, was admitted to the Siwan sadar hospital from where he was later shifted to a private nursing home. His condition was stated to be critical. Police said Shamsheer and his wife had an argument on Thursday night over the latter’s failure to bear a male child even after a decade of their marriage.
The Raghunathpur police station house officer (SHO) Abhijeet Kumar said they would record the victim’s statement after his condition improved. “Some residents of the area informed us about the incident,” he said, adding that no formal complaint had been lodged so far.
Two in net for ATM fraud
Muzaffarpur: Police on Friday caught two youths in the district who for the past few days had been duping people from rural areas with fake ATM cards. The youths — identified as Sitamarhi residents Sachin and Aksand — were caught while they were trying to fool one Ajay Kumar Mahto at an ATM kiosk in Minapur. The police said the duo had three fake ATM cards. The men used those to gain the trust of people from rural areas, pretend to help them withdraw money and then flee. They have been sent to the Khudiram Bose Central Jail.
Rape heat
Motihari: A Class VIII student of a government middle school in Motihari’s Tinkoni village has accused a teacher of repeatedly raping her over the past few years and making her pregnant five times. She has claimed the teacher has again made her pregnant but this time, she has refused to abort the baby. A complaint has been lodged with Darpa police station. The teacher is absconding. The girl has threatened to set herself on fire unless the teacher agreed to marry her.

Darbhanga: At least 100 people fell ill on Thursday evening after eating prasad in Senuar Gopal under Bahadurpur block of Darbhanga district .
Idol theft
Begusarai: A complaint was lodged on Friday after idols of Ram, Krishna, Sita, Laxman and Hanuman were stolen from a temple at Bakhri village in Begusarai district late on Thursday night.
Duo lynched
Chhapra: Two persons, suspected to be child-lifters, were beaten to death at Tedhighat village under the jurisdiction of Baniapur police station around 9pm on Thursday. Villagers found the duo, identified as Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) resident Santosh Kumar Sah and Sinuar (in Saran) resident Narayan Ram, loitering in the area. Three persons have been detained for interrogation, while the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
BDO suspension
Gopalganj: Block development official (BDO), Gopalganj Sadar, Ayodhyaya Shukla has been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty. Sources said Shukla had sought a month’s leave from the district magistrate during floods in the district. He had sought leave for his wife’s treatment but did not resume duty on time.
