Maoists lynch ‘informer’ driver
Jamui: Maoists lynched a trekker driver around 1am in Jamui district on Friday, within 24 hours of abducting five employees of a construction company from Basaiya.
At least 22 rebels had raided Paisraha village under the jurisdiction of Barhet police station. Members of area commander Sidho Koda’s group, the Maoists grabbed Priyanand Singh, a trekker driver and part-time construction worker, from his home, around 25km from Jamui and 157km southeast of the capital and lynched him. They accused him of being a police informer.
The rebels also set a tractor, a trailer and the trekker parked near Singh’s house on fire. They were part of the same group who had abducted five employees of Nawada-based private construction company on the intervening night of April 24 and 25. The area commander claimed responsibility of the consecutive attacks. Jamui superintendent of police Deepak Barnwal, however, denied that Singh was a police informer.
Power bills
Patna: Power consumers would now be able to deposit their bills at 474 branches of Madhya Bihar Grameen Bank spread across 11 districts. According to the agreement signed between South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd and the bank on Friday, consumers can deposit their bills without paying any fee for the service. The distribution firm's managing director, Palka Sahni, and the bank's general manager K.B. Singh were also present on the occasion.

B>l Chhapra: Additional district and sessions judge Arun Kumar Srivastava on Friday awarded life imprisonment to three persons — Paras Sharma and his two sons — for stabbing one Parma Sharma following a land dispute in 2010. The convicts were also awarded seven years of imprisonment under the Arms Act. The incident had occurred at Kadna village under the jurisdiction of Garkha police station.

Patna: RJD leader Arun Star Chandravanshi, also a member of the organising committee of the party’s Parivartan Rally scheduled for May 15, on Friday joined JD(U) in the presence of rural works minister Bhim Singh.
Accident
Gopalganj: Three persons died when a truck lost control under an under-construction bridge at Sonvarsa diversion on NH 28 under the jurisdiction of Barauli police station on Thursday night. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The truck had Rajasthan registration number and the deceased were yet to be identified.
Murder
Buxar: A retired teacher, Radheshyam Mishra, was gunned down on Friday by five armed criminals at Jitwadih village under the jurisdiction of Nawanagar police station. The criminals had looted cash and two licenced rifles from Mishra. Another villager Ramesh Mishra was accompanying the retired teacher when they were attacked by the criminals, said sub-divisional police officer, Dumraon, Nurul Haque.
