Patna, June 29: Bhojpuri star Ravi Kissen as a Bollywood villain is not exactly a noble idea but it surely pleases us whenever he appears in such roles.

If you are one of them, you have reason to cheer. You can catch him in a prominent role as a bad guy next year in Zilla Ghaziabad.

Kissen, who has portrayed negative roles in films like Luck, Aan: Men at Work and Phir Hera Pheri, spoke to The Telegraph about the forthcoming movie. He, however, did not disclose the fate of his character, Rashid Anwar, at the end of the film.

Zilla Ghaziabad, produced by Vinod Bachchan (Tanu weds Manu) and directed by Anand Kumar (of Delhii Heights fame), also stars Vivek Oberoi, Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. The shooting is slated to start in July.

Kissen said: “I can’t reveal what happens to my character at the end of the film, as we have not started to shoot yet. It won’t be right to spoil the suspense. Right now I can only say that the film is on the mafia and gang wars in north India in the 1980s and 1990s.”

Kissen thanked his director and producer who approached him for the role of Rashid Anwar alongside Vivek Oberoi’s character Dharamvir Gujjar, a gangster of Ghaziabad.

Kissen added: “I am excited about my character as I will be playing a full-fledged negative role for the first time. I have to do lot of practice and homework before I go on the sets. My negative roles in the previous films were for a short span of time but this one is a full-fledged role and I will be seen killing and hitting innocent people. Though, I have not done negative roles in Bhojpuri films, the people of Bihar will surely accept my character.”

The star said: “I think, in today’s film industry, an actor has to be ready to play all kind of roles, which is the demand of the audience. On many occasions, fans are fed up watching an actor in the same role over and over again. They want some changes in the character played by their favourite actors. This is the reason even big stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Aamir Khan choose negative roles.”

Kissen added: “I firmly believe that an actor should be versatile to entertain the audience. After all our work is for the common man. I accept that it’s a big challenge for me because a negative role carries many important features like body language, costume and dialogue delivery, which is important to deliver the best performance.”

On his inspirations among Bollywood villains, Kissen said: “No actor would love to identify himself in a negative role but there are many stars who have made a name for themselves by their acting skills. Actors like Pran, Prem Chopra, Amjad Khan, Shakti Kapoor and Gulshan Grover and my favourite. Amrish Puri also made a mark in the hearts of the audience. People still remember his Mogambo khush hua dialogue. Such characters are always cherished.”
