Patna: Lalu Prasad on Wednesday proclaimed the CBI had no case against him but he was ready to face trial if the agency chargesheeted him.
"There is no case against me. Every thing that belongs to me is in public domain. However, if they (CBI) go ahead and file the chargesheet, I will face it," he said to a question that his property had been caught after demonetisation.
The RJD boss ridiculed the Centre's claim that last year's note-ban decision had hit black money deposits.
"Why don't they publish the names then? They should come out and say how much money Amit Shah's son has, how much black money do the RSS and BJP have?" he said, stressing that every opposition leader was being harassed by the investigation agencies and income tax department.
"I am not a person who will be afraid of threats from Narendra Modi," Lalu said when someone pointed out that the DMK had softened its stand on demonetisation after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met M. Karunanidhi. "Let him (Modi) meet me I will give him a piece of my mind," Lalu said.
The RJD chief and family have been embroiled in legal procedures for the past six months. On Wednesday, Lalu's younger son Tejashwi Yadav even had to skip the RJD's demonetisation protest because he had to go to Delhi.
"The family is anticipating a chargesheet by the CBI over the land-for-hotels case, and are resigned to the fact that their troubles are about to grow," conceded an RJD leader.
