A gang of six criminals looted Rs 15 lakh at gunpoint from a bank located on the Hajipur-Jandaha road in Vaishali district, around 20km north of Patna on Monday.

The incident occurred around 1.15pm when four criminals wielding pistols entered the Koeri Buzurg branch of Canara Bank and asked the manager, Rajesh Kumar, to hand over the master keys to the strong room and the chest. The other two followed later.

The robbers assaulted the manager when he reportedly tried to offer resistance and took out the cash.

Superintendent of police Rakesh Kumar rushed to the spot and inquired about the incident. He said the borders have been sealed.
