Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) has two reasons to cheer.

The B-school organised its seventh convocation on Sunday and what added to the cheer was that all forty-three students of the institute have received offers from reputable companies after completing their course.

Dressed in formals (boys wore black suits, while girls wore green saris), the youths exuded confidence as they received their degrees.

After receiving his degree, Manish Kumar, a gold medallist (batch topper) said: "My life has changed after joining CIMP. Not only have I been placed in a premier institute but at a much higher package."

Manish has been placed with Tata Advanced Systems Limited at an annual package of Rs 12 lakh in Hyderabad. Manish, a Madhubani boy who completed his BTech from Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, said: "After completing my Btech, I was offered a job by Jindal Stainless Limited at an annual package of Rs 4.5 lakh. I completed my MBA and after two years now, the package has gone up by thrice."

Manish, who had cleared the Common Admission Test (CAT), had an option of joining many reputable institutes based on his score, but he opted for CIMP. He believes admission to CIMP was the best thing. Manish said: "The institute has good infrastructure with experienced faculty members."

Echoing the views of Manish, Shiwangi Singh, another gold medallist, who has been placed with National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX), an online multi-commodity exchange company, said: "I did my BBA from Amity Global Business School, Patna. I had an idea of doing MBA from Amity but I opted for CIMP. Today, I think the idea of joining CIMP was correct as I have been placed at NCDEX with an annual package of Rs 6.5 lakh."

The companies that visited CIMP for placement this year include Tata Advanced Systems, Amul, GIC Housing Finance, Saija Finance Private Limited, NDDB Dairy Services, NCDEX and others.

The occasion was CIMP's second convocation after shifting to the new campus at Mithapur. The chief guest at the function was S. Sivakumar, the group head of agri and IT businesses for ITC Ltd and the guest of honour was D.S. Gangwar, principal secretary, education department.

Sivakumar expressed happiness over the progressive nature of the institute and said: "As the world is highly connected, it is imperative to grow and work beyond boundaries of the four walls. The students should try to get real exposure rather than bookish knowledge."

Education department principal secretary Gangwar said: "Students should always try to be change-makers and they should endeavour to make their surroundings better."

Presenting the director's report, CIMP director V. Mukunda Das summarised the achievements of the B-School. The director said apart from providing management education, CIMP has conducted management development programmes for officials of the Bihar Police Academy, the Bihar State Milk Co-Operative Federation Ltd. (Comfed), Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan and the Jeevika scheme to name a few.

The Jeevika scheme is an initiative of the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society, an independent organisation set up by the state.
