Patna: Deputy inspector-general of police, central, Rajesh Kumar on Monday suspended

two policemen for sending a couple to jail in a wrong case.

The station house officer (SHO) of Bahadurpur police station in Patna City, Krishna Kumar Gupta, and sub-inspector Sudhanshu Shekhar were sent to the police lines after the suspension.

The couple, Ajay Khatri and his wife Archana Kumari, had submitted an application before inspector-general of police (IG) N.H. Khan in which it was stated that they were sent to jail in a fake case.

IG Khan directed the DIG, central range, to inquire in the matter.

DIG Rajesh found in the investigation that on March 22, 2018, an FIR was lodged against the couple by the opposite party following which they were sent to jail.

After the couple were sent to jail, the opposite party occupied the house of the couple and looted the belongings of the house.

The DIG later found in his investigation that the house was owned by Khatri which he had built by taking loan from a bank. The holding tax papers and the electricity bill also revealed that the house belonged to Khatri.

However, due to complicity of both the suspended police officers, the couple is now without a house while the other party live in the couple's house, the DIG found.

During investigation, it came to light that the Bahadurpur SHO and the investigation officer (IO) of the case, Shekhar was hand-in-glove with the opposite party. DIG Kumar found out that in 2016, the circle inspector and sub-divisional magistrate, Patna City, had in a case showed the possession of the house in the favour of Khatri.

After the investigation, DIG Kumar had directed the Patna City SP and the sub-divisional officer, Patna City, to lodge an FIR against the opposite party and get the possession of the house to Khatri.

Rajesh had also issued a showcause to former ASP Patna City, Hari Mohan Shukla. Shukla was earlier sent a showcause in a different case for sending a boy to jail in a false case.

Earlier, DIG Rajesh had suspended 12 police personnel, including the Bypass police station house officer and the Agamkuan police station house officer, for framing a minor boy in a false case and sending him to jail.
