Patna, Nov. 8: A team of 15 social workers, who call themselves Jan Bhagidari Manch, will go to remote villages of the state from November 21 to educate people about various issues, ranging from constitutional rights to the importance of education.

In the first phase, the team would go to different places in Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai and Sitamarhi districts. Dr Manoj Kumar, the former chief commissioner of Persons with Disabilities under the central government, is the president of Jan Bhagidari Manch. At a news meet today, he said: “The motive behind organising this programme is to make villagers conscious about the rights granted to them by the Constitution.”

He added: “We will also discuss the prevailing condition of education and health in the state. We will motivate the villagers to educate their children. We are starting this campaign from villages because we believe 90 per cent of the population still live there. It is true that the number of schools in villages have increased. The government is providing children with different amenities like midday meals and bicycles. But how many students from villages become doctors and engineers? The number is very little. So, first we want to convince the villagers about the importance of education.”
