Patna, April 16: Electricity consumers will continue to get uninterrupted power even if the 33KV line stops supply due to wire snapping and other reasons as Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (Pesu), responsible for supply of electricity in the state capital, is working on an alternative source of 33KV line.

Currently, if the 33KV line stops working due to wire snapping, burning of jumpers, puncturing of insulators etc, the consumers would have to wait for hours till the repair is over but now the same would be supplied through alternative source of 33KV line which comes from grid station.

The consumers of S K Puri and Patliputra Colony are getting this facility and the same would be extended to cover the entire city in a phase-wise manner. “This facility will now be extended to Gardanibagh, Danapur and Digha, Pesu general manager-cum-chief engineer S.K.P. Singh told The Telegraph.

Residents of SK Puri and Patliputra Colony have to face less power cuts in comparison to other parts of the city. In the event of a line breakdown in these two localities, supply is restored from Pesu 9 and Pesu 7 feeders respectively.

“We are working on an alternative arrangement to create a ring of 33KV line across the city where all the sub-stations will be connected with each other,” Singh added.

Currently eight sub-stations — high court, Vikas Bhavan, Sinchai Bhavan, Board Colony, SK Puri, AN College, Patliputra Colony— will be connected so as to ensure smooth supply of power.

Stating that the work of creating an alternative source of 33KV line would be completed in a phase-wise manner within the next six months, Singh said it has negligible element of cost component in the whole exercise as the undertaking would simply be reconfiguring the 33KV lines.

Sujit Kumar, a resident of Danapur, told The Telegraph: “If it is translated into reality, it would be a big relief as the state suffers from twin problem of non-availability of power and faulty and dilapidated transmission lines. This facility would, at least, ensure power supply to every household in the capital provided the state is not deprived of its due quota from central sector.”
