The row over the violation of load penalty norms at Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport by IndiGo and GoAir appeared to be waning despite cancellation of a few pre-booked tickets on Wednesday.

Booking for IndiGo and GoAir flights from the city resumed on Wednesday after three days. Sources claimed that bookings were being done with restrictions on the availability of seats in the flights of both the airlines over the next few days.

“We have tickets available in most of our flights, including those to Delhi and Calcutta, from June 21. But the number of seats is limited for a couple of days,” said an executive of GoAir at the city airport, adding that there were no cancellations of pre-booked tickets on Wednesday.

Admitting cancellation of a few pre-booked tickets in their flights on Wednesday, sources in IndiGo said the bookings in the airline’s planes had resumed in a restricted manner. “A few people not having many issues cancelled their pre-booked tickets. They were paid penalty of Rs 5,000. Meanwhile, bookings in our flight on various sectors started on Wednesday with limitation on availability of seats from Patna,” said an executive of IndiGo.

The two no-frills airlines had started cancelling tickets of around 25-28 passengers in their each aircraft operating from the city from Sunday after DGCA last Friday served showcause notice on them for reducing the passenger load in their aircraft operating from Patna and Jammu airports by 20 per cent with immediate effect because of the load penalty factor.
