The first calendar based on the theme of agriculture and allied fields has been published on Monday.

The calendar, prepared by Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, will follow the Hindi new year (Vikram Samwat 2070), starting April 26.

University vice-chancellor M.L. Choudhary said: “The farmers would get day-to-day information on agriculture and related subjects. We will brand our products for commercial outlook through this calendar.”

Choudhary said: “I hope that the calendar will be informative and useful for the farmers and extension workers. The state government has sanctioned Rs 250-300 crore in plan head, Rs 85-90 crore in non-plan head and Rs 10 crore in research head for this financial year.”

He said the varsity is the only one in the country to conduct 62 research projects in non-plan head and 45 projects have been sent for external funding to different organisations.

BAU director of extension education R.K. Sohane appreciated the cooperation from the scientists. He said the varsity had published a booklet, Mahila Shashaktikarn Ki Aur Agrasar Bihar, based on the success story of women farmers on the occasion of Bihar Divas.

The results of research are made available to the farmers in Hindi through print and electronic media, the VC said.
