The designated officers in around 12 districts would face disciplinary action if they fail to dispose of the pending Right to Public Service Act applications within Friday.

The laxity was detected on the part of the officers concerned during a review of applications pending since 2011. During the review meeting on Monday, it was found only nine per cent of the applications were disposed of after the expiry of the stipulated timeframe. As many as 2,521 applications are pending in over a dozen districts, including West Champaran and Muzaffarpur.

On Thursday, additional secretary, home, Rajiv Ranjan Sinha issued a letter to the senior superintendents of police and stated that Muzaffarpur, Khagaria, Kaimur, Nawada, Madhubani, Naugachia, Araria, Aurangabad, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Munger and Siwan were lagging behind in rendering services to the people.

The officers were asked to provide the services to the applicants within two days. The designated officials have been warned of disciplinary action in case they fail to do so.

“It is a matter of grave concern that applications submitted during the 2011 and 2012 fiscal have not been disposed of till date,” the letter stated.
