The proposed Bihar Museum on Bailey Road would be inaugurated on March 22, 2015, on the occasion of the state’s 103rd anniversary, Nitish Kumar said on Friday.
“There are many artefacts that we have not put on display in the existing museum because of space crunch. The objects that are on display at present also look cluttered. Keeping this in mind, we decided to develop an international museum in the city. Our target is to inaugurate the proposed museum, Bihar Museum, on March 22, 2015, on the occasion of Bihar Divas,” the chief minister said during the inaugural session of the 62nd All India Museum Annual Conference at Patna Museum.
Chanchal Kumar, secretary, art, culture and youth affairs department, said: “The bid documents for Bihar Museum are being finalised and the construction work is expected to begin soon. Work on the museum block at Buddha Smriti Park would be completed within three to four months.”
Around 200 historians, archaeologists, conservators, anthropologists, curators and members of Museums Association of India are taking part in the three-day conference on technical upgrade of museum communication and exhibition.
