Los Angeles, Feb. 24 (Reuters): Brooke Shields is returning to series television.

The Suddenly Susan star will lead the ensemble cast of the Fox pilot New Car Smell, a workplace comedy set at a car dealership. US actor Christopher MacDonald will also star.

Shields will next be seen in the feature Bob the Butler. Her other credits include Pretty Baby and Blue Lagoon. Suddenly Susan ran on NBC for four seasons until 2000.

MacDonald, who most recently starred in Fox?s short-lived comedy Cracking Up, will next be seen in director Stephen Gaghan?s spy thriller Syriana, starring George Clooney.
