London, Sept. 2 (PTI): Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, plotted to study with William, the Duke of Cambridge, by dropping a year so that she could get enrolled at University of St Andrews after his choice of academic institution was made public, a new book has claimed.

Kate, 31, rejected her first choice of university and took a gap year so that she could be an undergraduate at the same time as William, according to the book, But Kate: The Future Queen, by journalist Katie Nichol.

Previously it was claimed that Kate was told to apply for a place at St Andrews by her “pushy” mother Carole Middleton.

The book claims that Kate snubbed an offer to study at Edinburgh University and chose St Andrews after William’s choice was made public, reports the Daily Mirror.

She gambled on getting a place at St Andrews by taking a gap year at the same time as William in the hope they would arrive at St Andrews at the same time, says the book.

Jasper Selwyn, a career adviser at Kate’s former school, Marlborough College, and Joan Gall her house tutor, confirmed that her first choice of university had been Edinburgh.
