Balurghat, Oct. 31: A 40-year-old woman died of dengue at the district hospital here last night.

Putul Manna, a resident of Mahinagar in Balurghat block, had been admitted to the Balurghat district hospital on Friday.

Her son Bappa said: "My mother had been suffering from high fever and dengue-like symptoms since Thursday night. We admitted her to the hospital her on Friday. The Mac Eliza test (conducted that day) confirmed dengue. She died yesterday around 10pm."

According to hospital sources, dengue has claimed seven in the district since August this year.

Today, 238 patients with dengue-like symptoms were admitted to the hospital, sources said. A special ward and a fever clinic have been opened to treat people with dengue-like symptoms.
