The West Bengal Urdu Academy will start civil services coaching for youths who passed Class X and XII with Urdu as the medium of instruction.
The programme includes coaching in mathematics, English, general knowledge and logical reasoning — required to pass the civil services entrance.
“Course materials are either in Bengali or English, which Urdu-medium students are unable to follow,” said Syed Manal Shah Alquadri, the academy vice-chairman and former ambassador to Uzbekistan.
The academy will bear the coaching expenses, including study material and tuition fee. “Selected students will be have to pay a nominal amount. This has been done to discourage dropouts,” Alquadri said. “We will hire resource personnel to teach the students.”
