Three youths allegedly carrying deer meat, horns and skin, were arrested in Baruipur late on Thursday.

Officials of the Sunderbans Biosphere Reserve said 50 kg of deer meat, two horns and skin were seized from Bablu Sardar, Haripada Sardar and Shankar Sardar.

The trio have been remanded in judicial custody till October 20.

“Following a tip-off on Thursday night, our officials met the three at the Baruipur level crossing posing as customers and caught them selling the contraband red-handed,” said Pradip Vyas, the joint director of the Sunderbans Biosphere Reserve.

Body found: The body of a 32-year-old man was found at Paschim Shantinagar in Bally, Howrah, on Friday evening. Police said Tarak Ghosh had been missing since the afternoon.

Disaster averted: A “push-back” vehicle that was pushing a Russian cargo aircraft to the taxiway of the city airport caught fire on Friday afternoon. “A disaster was averted as pilot managed to power ahead and detach the plane from the vehicle,” said an official.
