Films for the young Movies can have a powerful, magical impact on viewers, and specially on young minds. Even after we finish watching a film, its memory stays on and haunts us with its evocative ideas, images and allusions. Hosted by Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Comet India Foundation and Development Research Communication & Services Centre, with support from Max Mueller Bhavan, Calcutta Sukriti Foundation, Seagull Arts & Media Resource Centre and Drik India, Shobdo Kolpo Bhrom is a festival of films for young people, where they can watch and discuss films from all over the world. To be inaugurated today, the three-day event features real-life stories and stories of fictional characters, easy-to-watch popular films as well as more intriguing, experimental ones. It also offers its young audience a chance to interact amongst themselves and comment on the film they have just viewed. Besides, every movie will be introduced by an expert. The whole object of this exercise is to help youngesters gain insight into the mechanism behind the magic of movies. The discussions also aim to bring to the forefront the issues addressed in a particular film, and how these issues influence the daily lives of children. Apart from this, other activites of a competitive nature related to the films, like review-writing and poster-designing, have been included. To be screened today: Films on the theme of ‘friendship’ (10 am - 12 noon), on ‘war and peace’ (1 pm - 3.30 pm) and the Iranian feature film, Colour of Paradise (6 pm).
