Designed for life
T he Creative Commune is a novel initiative by a group of designers and artists who have come together for free expression and creativity. Encouraging creative pursuits of all kinds — from art and literature to apparel, jewellery and home decor — it brings people together to build a supportive and inspiring sense of community, and foster new creative collaborations. Showcasing creations by its members, the ongoing exhibition of unique, exclusive art objects of home and personal use provides visitors an exciting and stimulating space to engage with art and design in a non-pretentious, non-competitive environment. Participants include Varun Gupta of Chennai (photography), Sculptor Gallery (sculpture), Gallerie 52D (art), Hemal Kapadia of Olive Design (graphic design), Eina Ahluwalia of Breathing Space (jewellery art; picture right), Sujata Sarawgi (weaves) and Cocoon (furniture). Hosted by Cocoon and Nine Hills.

December 24 - 26 at Madhusudan Mancha: Sudrak’s drama festival features its productions: Rangamati (Dec. 24 at 6.30 pm), two short plays Protimar Kaal and Pakhiwala (Dec. 25 at 4 pm), Sahaj Swajan (Dec. 25 at 6.45 pm) and Purbo Nirdharito (Dec. 26 at 6.30 pm).

December 26 at Padatik’s Buildwell Theatre; 7 pm: Padatik will stage its latest production, Lahron Ke Rajhans (Hindi). Direction: Shyamanand Jalan. December 27 at Padatik’s Buildwell Theatre; 7 pm: Thealight will stage its new production, Fidaynee. Direction: Atanu Sarkar.

PERFORMING ARTS
