Celebration through dance
An institution which began its journey with a handful of students and a heart full of dreams, Udayan, the dance institution of Mamata Shankar Ballet Troupe, has, over the years, been able to establish its own niche in the world of the performing arts. To celebrate its 23rd anniversary, Udayan presents Prayas 2009, a two-day festival of dances participated by 1000 students of the institution. It features a number of dance presentations choreographed by Mamata Shankar with the assistance of senior teachers of Udayan. The individual items have been choreographed on music composed by Ananda Shankar, A.R. Rahman, Kabir Sumon and Kitaro. It also features dance compositions set to the tunes of various popular folk songs of our country.
