Natural weaves and colours
This festive season, go natural — and bring back the look of natural dyes. To celebrate the onset of the season, Artisana, the retail outlet of Crafts Council of West Bengal, presents its ongoing Agomoni exhibition, focusing on neel (indigo) and aal (root), the two fabulous sources of natural dyes. The collection features ajrakh print, aal-dyed textiles, indigo-dyed and printed textiles executed on different kinds of textures and weaves of India. This apart, there will be a demonstration of Ajrakh-Neel-Aal, by three of India’s finest exponents of such artistry — Sufiyan Ismail Khatri (Kutch), Bherulal Chippa (Rajasthan) and Kapileswar Mohonto (Kotpad). The exhibition also features extensive collections of yardage, dupattas, Kota from Rajasthan, Tanchoi from Benaras, hand block-print of Bagh, Madhya Pradesh, weaves from Phulia, and silver jewellery by Manas.
