The sound of music
Committed to making soulful, soothing yet meaningful music, Rise From The Ashes is a group of six energetic, talented young people who are making a mark on the local music scene. Exuding an abiding passion, knowledge and understanding of music, Neil Mansukhani, founder and senior-most member of the band, composes intense lyrics filled with emotion that carry a message for the youth. Simple yet funky, melodious yet peppy, they deal with practical, common happenings of life and instantly appeal to the heart. This evening, the band presents a live concert of their original soft rock and pop music, a performance that promises to be a stepping-stone on the path to musical success and stardom. Band members: Neil Mansukhani (lyrics/lead vocals), Shams Reza (guitar), Atanu Sarkar (guitar/back-up vocals), Budhaditya Deb (bass guitar), Joy Banerjee (keyboards) and Pradeep Das (drums).

BOOK RELEASE

FILM SHOW

May 12 - 14 at Nandan II: Films Division, Government of India and Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre, jointly present MIFF in Kolkata, a festival of award-winning films from Mumbai International Film Festival for documentary, short and animation, held biennially. This festival showcases some of the finest cinematic works realised in the last four years throughout the world. Today, 4 pm: Salata Baladi (House Salad) (Egypt, 103 min, Dir: Nadia Kamal); at 6.30 pm: Flow: For Love of Water (USA, 94 min., Dir: Irena Salina) and The Legend of Fat Mama (India, 24 min., Dir: Rafeeq Ellias).
