Odissi evening
Kolkata Maur Lalit Dance Academy presents two original choreographic performances based on Odissi dance style. Amrita Dhara signifies a confluence of the rivers Ganga and Teesta. It features 100 dancers of the troupe’s Calcutta and Dooars units, making a journey through traditional and sublime Odissi repertoire. A tribute to Tagore on his 150th birth anniversary, Rabi Pranam (a scene from it appears here) is an innovative presentation of the Bard’s celebrated dance-drama Shyama. Vocals: Chandrabali Rudra Dutta (Shyama), Supratik Das (Bajrasen), Sasha Ghoshal (Kotal and Bondhu) and Sounak Chattopadhyay (Uttiyo). Music direction: Snehasish Mozumder. Dancers: Debamitra Sengupta (Shyama), Sujit Karmakar (Bajrasen), Subikash Mukherjee (Uttiyo), Diptangshu Pal (Kotal) and other senior members of Mayur Lalit.
