January 8 & 9 at Shaktigarher Maath, Jadavpur; 10 am onwards: The Sixth Baul Fakir Utsav, a day-night long folk music festival dedicated to the memory of the great Baul artiste Subal Gosain, who died in October 2010. To mark the occasion, a video of assorted clips of Gosain will be shown at 6.30 pm on January 8 at the festival. Clips have been taken from Ruchir Joshi’s Eleven Miles, George Luneau’s Songs of Madmen, Bonnie Chakravarty’s Bauls of Today and assorted videos from the first Baul Fakir Utsav. This year, the festival will see performances by its regular roster of artistes, including Golam Fakir and Kartick Das Baul, along with guest performers from Sylhet and Kushtia, Bangladesh.
