Bohurupee 60

The Telegraph Online Published 01.05.08, 12:00 AM
Bohurupee 60
To celebrate the sixtieth year of its foundation, Bohurupee is hosting a drama festival dedicated to the memory of its founder, legendary thespian Sombhu Mitra. Featuring some of the group’s most popular plays, the four-day celebration will also witness intellectual interaction among well-known stage personalities of the city, besides other theatre-related events. The inaugural day’s performance features the premiere show of Kalsandhya (a scene from the play appears above; at 3 pm & 6.30 pm), a play by Buddhadeva Bose being staged on his birth centenary. Putting an episode from The Mahabharata in contemporary perspective, it dramatises universal human dilemmas and conflicts. Also to be staged are Fullaketur Pala (May 2; 6.30 pm), Mister Kakatua (May 3; 3 pm), Chhanch Bhanga Moorti (May 3; 6.30 pm) and Beerjashulka (May 4; 3 pm). The concluding day’s programme also includes a felicitation ceremony (at 6 pm) to be followed by the presentation of Bohurupee’s theatre-songs.
