Cheers, selfies, autographs and thunderous applause welcomed bestselling writer Chetan Bhagat to Bhawanipur Education Society College on Monday afternoon. Bhagat was the chief guest at the convocation ceremony of the undergraduate students. Before felicitating the toppers, The Five Point Someone writer dropped in at the college's Elgin Road campus, spent some time with his young readers and released The India Quiz Book, compiled by NGO Kolkata Gives and printed by the Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society. "It is always nice to visit colleges. College friendships are the best. The trick is to find the balance - how much fun and how much studies? Only studying is quite boring. This is the time to have fun. Question is what is fun? Making half girlfriend or half boyfriend is fun? Everybody has his or her own definition of fun but balance is important. College is like they have given you a very cool car to drive but you also have to follow the traffic rules. It's like you are driving a Ferrari in Calcutta, you feel like going fast but you can't," were his words of advice. Students were excited to meet the author they can "relate to". "He visited our library, which is among the best in the city, and interacted with us in the auditorium," gushed Umang Somani, a third-year student of BCom.
