Oct. 13: The state government has allowed transfer of teachers, librarians and other employees of government-aided colleges.

The higher education department yesterday issued a notification stating details of how teachers, librarians and other employees of aided colleges have to apply if they want to opt for mutual or own transfer.

Mutual transfer means a person in an aided college can only apply if there is another person of the same academic qualifications and working in the same position in another aided college is willing to swap places.

Own transfer means an applicant is seeking transfer to another college if there is a vacancy.

The application format is available on the website of the higher education department.

A teacher or any other employee in an aided college can seek transfer only once in his/her career.

The aided colleges run by minorities have been kept outside the purview of the government order.

An employee can only seek own transfer if he or she has worked for at least five years in a permanent position. The distance between the college where the applicant is working and the one where he or she wants to move has to be at least 25km.
