Alipurduar, July 29: The management of Dalmore Tea Estate today put up a lockout notice in the garden citing alleged lawlessness by a section of workers.

Rupinder Singh Ranawat, the general manager of the garden, said around 30 workers would always threaten other labourers and the management. “Few days back, they assaulted a worker and warned the management against taking any action on them. The situation in the garden is so bad that we are forced to shut even during the peak season.”

The Darjeeling Terai Dooars Plantation Labour Union, affiliated to the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, denied the charge and said the management had shut the garden to deny workers the puja bonus that is due.
