The Covid-19 vaccination for children aged between 12 and 14 years commenced at the Hindi Balika Vidyapith in Siliguri on Monday.

Sanjay Tibrewal, a trustee of the institution, claimed that the school is the first in Siliguri to conduct the vaccination of the children of this age group. “Around 250 children were jabbed on the first day,” he added.

The school had previously conducted a similar vaccination programme for students aged between 15 to 18 years.

“To instill confidence among the children, we have decorated classrooms and installed a selfie booth where they will get clicked after being jabbed. Also, chocolate will be distributed among them,” Tibrewal said.

Shrinivas Patil, the SDO of Siliguri, was present at the event.
