Siliguri, May 17: Most schools in the plains adjoining Siliguri rejoiced over excellent results in the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) examinations, the results of which were published today.
With a perfect 100 in Maths, Victor Das of Don Bosco High School, Siliguri, has bagged 97.5 per cent in ISC, becoming one of the highest scorers in the country.
The TV-addict, who is at present preparing for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, aims at becoming a mechanical engineer. Thankful to private tuition, Das had five tutors, for whim he had ?achieved this feat?. ?Before my exams, I had put in 10-12 hours of toil,? said the topper, between receiving congratulatory calls and giving interviews to TV channels.
Das is the school topper and one of the 19 students to score more than 90 per cent in ISC. ?Hard work of our students and our guidance have resulted this,? said principal Father M.J. Jose. ?Most of our ICSE toppers had chosen to stay back and continue their Plus II here.?
Of the 59 examinees, 20 scored between 80-89 per cent and 18 between 70-79 per cent.
Vikash Agarwal and Ankit Hansaria are close runners-up with 96.50 and 96 per cent.
In ICSE, Aamir Zeb topped Don Bosco with 95.20 per cent, with 11 others scoring more than 90.
With a score of 96.2 per cent, Twisha Chatterjee topped St Joseph?s High School, Matigara, in ISC. While Chatterjee is from the humanities stream, Neha Gupta from the science stream has scored a close 94 per cent. ?Seven out of 65 students in ISC and nine out of 79 in ICSE scored more than 90 per cent,? Sister Helen, an official of the school, said. Debasmita Dutta topped the Class X list with a score of 94 per cent.
The topper from St Joseph?s High School, Bhaktinagar, was Debadrita Dutta, who bagged 95 per cent.
Gangtok scores
Tashi Namgyal Academy, Gangtok, and St Xavier?s School, Pakyong, saw no failures in eother ICSE or ISC.
Father Gerard, principal, Xavier?s said Yumi K. Sherpa was the ISC topper from the science stream with 93 per cent while Zebanur Ansari topped from arts with 84 per cent. Partho S. Pal was the topper in ICSE with 87 per cent.
