Pujoy Pancham, a programme by a band that had musicians who had worked with R.D. Burman, was held at Srijani Auditorium in Durgapur town on Sunday evening. The event was organised by Rotary Club of Durgapur Steel City in association with t2.
The auditorium was packed with old and young people who gathered to listen to the music of Burman, played by percussionist Nitin Shankar, drummer Franco Vaasz, Kishore Sodha on the trumpet and Raj Sodha on the saxophone. Sumana Chakraborty and Probeer Das sang the RD numbers.
Kripal Singh, 64, a businessman from Durgapur town and an RD fan, said: “Even though RD Burman is no more, what I experienced today reminded me of his genius. I am an ardent fan.”
