The Calcutta Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has appointed real estate consultant CB Richard Ellis to conduct a feasibility study for the proposed Sunrise City project at Nonadanga, off the EM Bypass.
Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya had announced the project in November 2003. He had said the project would be completed within 20 months of work commencing.
The report from the consulting firm will be submitted within three months. A date for starting work on the project will be set after the detailed study is tabled.
The 50-acre city will house ITeS companies and also have residential and entertainment arrangements.
State IT secretary G.D. Gautama said the state would also appoint a consultant to conduct a feasibility study for the proposed 200-acre ITeS sector at Rajarhat.
The two facilities will house new investors in the IT and ITeS sector. He said the state’s IT promotion cell was in an advanced stage of discussion with three ITeS and two IT companies.
“We are working on creating a suitable social infrastructure, along the lines of other major metros, to attract workforce in this sector,” asserted Gautama.
