Banpukuria is just 2 km from the popular holiday destination, Mukutmanipur, which is about 50 km from Bankura town.

The place is dotted with small hills, which meet the river in a picture-postcard setting.

For reaching Mukutmanipur, one can take a train to Bankura and then hop on to a bus for a two-hour journey through Sal and Mahua plantations. The red laterite soil adds to the rustic beauty of the place.

The 2-km journey from Mukutmanipur to Banpukuria is picturesque, with the road winding along the Kangsabati river.

On the way, there is a hill with iron ore deposits. The hilltop offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding greenery and the rippling blue river. The way leads to a roofless Shiva temple atop a hill. A government-appointed priest performs puja at the temple daily.

A little further ahead is the confluence or mohona of Kumari and Kangsabati rivers. One can hire a boat and visit an island on the mohona that houses a deer park.

One can also visit the quaint little tribal villages nearby.

Take Rupasi Bangla Express from Howrah or Aranyak Express from Shalimar or Adra to reach Bankura. You can take a bus from Calcutta too. From Bankura, take a bus to Mukutmanipur. Some hotels in Mukutmanipur offer a car pick-up from Bankura station. From Mukutmanipur, you can hire a car or take an autorickshaw to reach Banpukuria
