Salt Lake has a new SDO. Saikat Chakraborty joined office earlier this month and now sits at the sub-divisional office at DJ 4. 

Chakraborty is from the 2001 batch of the West Bengal Civil Service and was earlier with the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation. The last SDO of Salt Lake Pawan Kadyan was transferred in July. 

“Salt Lake used to be a mofussil area in my younger days when I'd come here for pandal-hopping during Durga puja,” he said. “Over the years people from outside came and settled here and a new city culture has grown. But people here are warm and welcoming. Although I haven’t had much time to socialise, I have attended a few programmes.”

Work-wise, Chakraborty is now wrapping up last-minute glitches in the Special Summary Revision of electoral lists. 273 Booth Level Officer (BLO) booths were set up in all wards of No. 116 Assembly constituency. “We are in the process of updating the electoral list as per Form 6, 7, 8 and 8A. September 27 was the last day for applications for making changes in the electoral list,” he said.
