Alipore: The additional district judge of Alipore on Monday sentenced eight persons to life imprisonment for their involvement in the abduction of Khadim's co-owner Partha Roy Burman in 2001.

Azgar Khan, Dilshad Khan, Akhtar Hossain, Nayeem, Muzammel Sheikh, Noor Rahman alias Alam, Mizanur Rahman and Akhtar alias Palwan had been pronounced guilty on December 8.

Five others convicted of the crime, including gangster Aftab Ansari, have been serving a life sentence since 2009. Roy Burman had been abducted on July 25, 2001, and freed eight days later amid allegations that Rs 3.75 crore was paid.
