Devotees of four wheels can take a peek at Fiat’s Punto in a crossover package, Mahindra & Mahindra’s Verito Vibe (the sporty compact with a big boot), the new Innova and Liva from the Toyota assembly line and the Nano in a fill-it-shut-it-forget-it avatar.
Tata’s “lovely little family car” will paint the town in nine vibrant colours. The new Nano has the best-in-class mileage of 25kmpl and the smallest turning radius of 4m.
“The Nano has been upgraded with new interiors,” said Sushil Bajpai of Tata Motors. It’s different from the Nano on the street and is expected to create a buzz at the carnival.

This sports edition has black cladding on the outside and an all-black interior. “It is slightly costlier than a normal Polo… around a little over Rs 8 lakh. Last year, Volkswagen had a conversion of 10 per cent from about 100 enquiries. This year it is looking for more,” a company spokesman said.
M&M’s compact sedan Verito Vibe has the potential to attract “wows” — and booking cheques.
“We are known as UV (utility vehicle) makers and market leaders in this segment. We want to show our customers our compact car. Last year, we displayed the Xylo and received tremendous response. This gave us confidence and we are here with the Verito now. This is a hatchback that seats five,” said Kumar Vivek of M&M.
Fiat, which has recently launched its own showroom in Calcutta after splitting with Tata Motors for its distribution network, is banking on its handsome Punto and sleek Linea.
Toyota, another carnival veteran, will present the new Innova that it launched last month. Bigger front grille, redesigned tail lamps, parking sensor, touch screen DVD, dual-tone leather upholstery and more: this Japanese best-seller is set to take you places in comfort.
“We had pretty good conversion last year, about 12 per cent. This year, we will be happy with 7 to 8 per cent conversion given the market conditions,” said Shantanu Roychoudhury of Toyota.
This is where the financier walks in. “Look, people will be requiring cars and SBI is here to finance them. The auto carnival is the perfect place that brings together customers, sellers and financiers under one roof for three days. We are hoping to do 250 cars a day,” said SBI chief general manager Sunil Srivastava.
Godrej Aer, first-time participants and sponsors of the carnival, will offer a range of home and car fragrances.
“We believe our products will fit in perfectly to add to the car decor and enhance the in-car experience,” a company spokesman said.
