A petition moved before Calcutta High Court on Thursday alleged irregularities in the recruitment of employees to Tamluk-Ghatal Central Co-operative bank in East Midnapore and accused state co-operative minister Arup Roy of facilitating illegal appointments.

According to the petition moved by a few residents of East Midnapore, 134 candidates had been recruited by the bank against notified vacancies for 52 posts. The petition also alleged the sister of an acquaintance of Roy had been illegally given a job at the bank.

Similar allegations have been levelled against a few high-ranking officials of the bank.A division bench headed by Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava will hear the petition on September 5.In the aftermath of alleged SSC and TET scams, several cases related to alleged recruitment irregularities in various state government departments have been filed in the high court.

The petition filed on Thursday claimed that at least 26 persons had been recruited illegally on the alleged recommendation of Roy. But Roy denied the charge while talking to a TV channel.BJP leaders’ wealthA petition filed before Calcutta High Court on Thursday demanded wealth assessment of 24 leaders, including Rajnath Singh, J.P. Nadda, Roopa Ganguly and Smriti Irani.

The petition is yet to be moved before the appropriate bench. The petition also includes the names of BJP leaders Dharmendra Pradhan, Sisir Adhikari, Suvendu Adhikari, Dibyendu Adhikari, Locket Chatterjee, Dilip Ghosh, Soumitra Khan and 13 others, including CPM leader Sujan Chakraborty.
