Siliguri, Sept. 22: The Durga Puja Guide Map for Siliguri and Bhaktinagar containing lists of 44 major pandals, 40 police assistance booths, parking zones, telephone numbers and traffic restrictions during the festival was released today.

“During the puja, our main focus is on crowd and traffic management, crime control and safety of residents. We have taken some steps to ensure the festival passes peacefully,” K.L. Tamta, the inspector-general police of north Bengal, said while releasing the guide. The guide map will be available at all police booths.

“There will be 20 mobile units and 150 police checkpoints across the town. Police personnel will conduct surprise checks to avoid any untoward incident,” he said. “Apart from the major pandals, all vital installations will be monitored by plain-clothes personnel and the anti-sabotage wing with the help of sniffer dogs.”

A similar guide map was also released by Jalpaiguri district police chief Anand Kumar in Jalpaiguri.
