Bengal Fish Fest will be back at Nalban Food Park this Friday. Organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and the department of fisheries, the festival will be held till January 7.
Though food stalls will be open from mid-day, the festival will be inaugurated at 4pm.
The third edition of the festival will have about 100 stalls, including around 40 restaurants like Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor, Bhojohori Manna, C/O Bangali, Sudipar Rannaghar etc. Government stalls will include Benfish, All Fish and Mother Dairy.
There will be a cooking contest on Saturday with participants having to cook a seafish or an inland fish dish on the spot from 2pm. From 5.30pm, filmmaker Goutam Ghose, Siddhartha ‘Topshe’ Chatterjee who is now involved in fish trade, film editor Rabiranjan Maitra and Sudipa Mukherjee of Sudipar Rannaghar will discuss the relevance of fish in Bengali culture. On Sunday, there will a fish quiz from 4.30pm.
Plumes & fins on view
An Exotic Bird and Sea Fish exhibition will take place at the Beleghata Old Post Office Maidan, near Alochhaya cinema till Sunday, 10am to 8pm. The inauguration of the event will be at 5pm today. Trees and flowers of rare species will also be on view.
