Dev in Khokababu |
Khokababu, the Dev-Subhashree action drama that’s going steady at the box office, will have a star viewer: chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
She has promised the lead actor to take time off her busy schedule and attend a special screening of the film at the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute at 6pm on Thursday.
“I had met Mamatadi recently at her home, where she asked me about my films,” Dev told Metro. “When I told her about Khokababu, she told me that she has seen hoardings of the film. I asked her if she would ever watch one of my films and she immediately agreed. It’s a great honour. Her feedback will help me evolve as an actor.”
Though Mamata’s preferred venue was Nandan, team Khokababu couldn’t get the hall as it was booked. “Mamatadi suggested SRFTI as a second option. After the screening, there will be a dinner party, which she will also attend. I have invited everyone from the industry to attend the special screening and watch the film with her. She treats me like her younger brother. She has always been kind and helpful. She even remembered my birthday,” gushed Dev.
“We are keeping our fingers crossed and hope that she likes our film,” said Khokababu producer Himangshu Dhanuka.
