After Central Park last summer, it will be FD Block this Tuesday. The block will celebrate Rabindra Jayanti in cool comfort.

An air-conditioned pandal will host the 156th birth anniversary celebrations of Tagore. The technology will be provided by SP Event Management. Ashok Panja, who heads the company, was also in charge of the Central Park facility last year.

A temporary aluminium hanger had been built around the stage at Central Park and a soft synthetic material had been spread over it to make it look like a tent.

The announcement was made by Puja committee head Pradip Sengupta on the occasion of the block’s khuti puja that took place on Akshay Tritiya last Saturday.

The artiste list features Rezwana Chowdhury Banya, Pramita Mallik, Sraboni Sen, Indrani Sen, Rupankar Bagchi, Kamalini Mukhopadhyay, Raghav Chatterjee, Manomoy Bhattacharya and Sibaji Chatterjee among others.

Residents of DB Block gathered outside DB 118 on Sunday to protest against the building of a seven-storeyed office of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board there. Residents voiced their worries about the crowd, pollution and loss of privacy of having such a building in their residential block. They have filed a public interest litigation (PIL) on the matter and the first hearing is expected to be today. In the meantime, residents pressured the labourers of Arcon Project, who had been working at the site, to stop work on May 27. Work is now at a standstill.
